It seems our time in Sweden is coming to an end. Tomorrow I have my last Swedish class, and after that I’m headed to Gothenburg to apply for a new Russian visa (don’t ask why I’m not applying in Stockholm, it’s a long story). We’re still not exactly sure when we’re heading to St. Petersburg, but it looks like it will be mid-June. We’ll be back here again sooner or later, though. At the very least, I have to come back in August to hand in my thesis.
On the one hand, it would be nice to stay longer in Sweden. On the other hand, after 10 months in quiet, boring Falun, most of which I have thoroughly enjoyed, I am looking forward to being in a big city again. Earning money again will be nice too. This year has been a good exercise in frugality, but frugality isn’t much fun.

Wow, that went fast didn’t it? Is it a Masters you have now? In one year? Amazing. Do you think you will ever return to the US to live? I am still trying to convince the huzzbin to find a job in Europe but he keeps saying I need to finish my doctorate first. Spoilsport.

Yes, it went fast. It’s my second master’s, but I don’t have it yet – I’ll turn in my thesis in August. One year master’s programs aren’t that unusual — my first one was a one-year program as well.
Not sure when (or if) I’ll be returning to the U.S. long-term. Sometimes I want a break from being “a foreigner”, to be somewhere where I know how everything works and what my rights are and how I should behave in most situations. But I don’t miss the U.S. per se, other than this occasional desire for familiarity. And Kostia has no interest in living in the U.S. — he barely has any interest in visiting, for that matter.

Has it really been a year, that’s amazing. Looking forward to hearing what happens next.
